Saturday 17th July sees the 50th running of the Percy Duff Barbon Motorcycle Hill Climb, run by the Westmorland Motor Club. The beautiful parkland setting of Barbon Manor, Barbon Nr Kirkby Lonsdale really is the place to be. The Hill itself is the drive to the big house & this year see’s the stars of the Supermoto world descend on Barbon. With their very specialist & very fast bikes, expect to see some thrilling riding from British Championship leader Craig Venske from South Africa riding the D3 KTM, Wigan’s Matt Winstanley on the Moto Supplies Husqvarna, other top riders include London’s George Clement, Finnish star Sami Salstola & 14 year old sensation Malachi Mitchell – Thomas. Venske runs out of the Kendal Based D3 KTM racing team stable, run & raced by Holme’s Neil Crayston. Also riding and probably showing that being an off roader isn’t a disadvantage is the best all rounder in the world…. Manx giant David Knight, 2 time World Enduro Champion, several time British Champion, Ersberg, Hells Gate & Last Man Standing winner, conqueror of America, this boy will be trying…. a very rare chance to see him race in this country on the Red Bull Farioli Works KTM’S

Riders come from all over the country to take part in this event and it’s a very spectacular, full of top top riders from the motorcycling world. usually amongst the crowd is a star of the motorcycle world with both Michael Rutter & Steve Plater attending in recent years, so autograph hunters, bring your book, you never know at Barbon. Lakeland Radio will also broadcast live from Barbon between 10am -2pm and also off the track will be Trade Stands, Bouncy Castle’s and Quad Rides for the kids. Full Catering and Ice Cream can be found in various places round the venue.

On display we will have the Braithwaite, the clubs Motorcycle, a 1910 Elk, as old as the club, as well as an immaculate Greeves from 1960, as old as our event! these bikes will also open the meeting. We also hope to have one of John McGuinness’s HM Plant TT bikes on display & probably a few special bikes brought on the day.

We end the day with the fastest rider’s shootout, & this really will be a thrilling end to the day, the fastest 15 riders will go head to head one after the other in a knockout, culminating in a top 3 shootout… excitement right to the end….. Gates open at 9-00am for a full day’s entertainment, for both adults & children. Entrance is £8 for adults and kids free, with various other concessions. Free parking & signed from Jct 36 of the M6, just a mile up the road from Devil’s bridge.

Directions: From M6: exit at junction 36, follow the A65 (signed posted Skipton & Kirkby Lonsdale). Pass Kirkby Lonsdale and turn left at devil’s bridge onto the A683 (signed posted Sedbergh & Barbon). After 3.3 mile turn right into Barbon and we are at the edge of the village just past the Church.
